long time no post . . .winter tanyards session

Hey peeps

Its been a while, glad to see the site still goin strong and as usual there still loads of good posts and info for us anglers , got some new gear this year and am looking forward to getting out there and christening it!

Gonna visit tanyards, had loadsa great days there with usual tactics on the lakes 1-3 with carp up to 20lb which is my pb so far. I usualy go in the warmer months for the carp and stick to the rivers for chub and pike in the winter, but seeing as i got a load of new carp gear. I cant wait to go lol.
so im going tanyards this saturday and wondered if anyone's fished there this time of year or has any general tips on rigs and bait with the temps being so low and that!

cheers guys

I had some great winter sessions there on Nash Strawberry boilies, I am going back to the mid/late '90s, but still the fish fed in the cold.

Re: long time no post . . .winter tanyards session

Started the day of at 7:00 am for the long journey down to lewes from catford to tanyard fishery. arrived at about 9ish, The weather was mild and clear so it looked like a good day was ahead of me.
The plan was to fish course lake 2, two carp rods out for me and one for the girlfriend and then a float rod each to keep us busy,
Spoke to steve the fishery manager and he said there were a few carp out yesterday so I was hopeful, Two guys had done a night and had one run no fish, and was landing a bream of about 3lb when got there. I set up on the swim with the carp free lake behind me so I could fish either side.
I was glad to try out my new korum chair with all the add-ons as i got it for xmas with some new bait runners as well anyway I had to rods out on bolt rigs and one on a small method feeder, using corn, meat and dipped fishmeal boiles. . didnt even have a bite all day on the carp rods, shame cos I wanted to christen my new set up never mind lol. fishing on the float rod kept me and the girlfriend entertained tho fishing red maggots over hemp and small amount of ground bait caught us loads of small roach one a chuck practically from the carp free lake! My girlfriend caught a nice pumpkinseedfish as well! The best fish of the day was a nice perch which i cought on maggot in the margin was a nice suprise didnt weigh it but id guess it was about 1 lb1/4 or so they go up to about 4lb in there!! I will up load all the pics tonight. all in all a good day, even better the girlfriend enjoyed it so she will be taking me again woohoo lol cant wait. .
