Day 1 Year 2010 – 3 points please.

The plan was set, the mission was to fish the Nadder at Tisbury and gain some points to start the season off. I was to be there at 7:30 but due to sleeping in late, I arrived there at 8:15am.
Once I got out off the warmth of my car I found that the outside temp was colder than I thought. My battle plan was to fish the feeder and the stick float. So on choosing the swim by the bridge I choose the rods I wanted to fish. For the stick, I choose my 9ft 6 combination Silstar Powerwind rod with a John Dean Stick Float. On the feeder I used a Silstar wand with a Drennan maggot feeder.

The river looked top notch and the flow looked perfect.

It wasn’t long before I had my first bite on striking I felt the fish, but lost it. Grr it seemed a age since I had a fish on with the last two trips resulting in blanks. But not to fear within 20 minutes I landed my first fish of 2010 a small but perfect formed Chub.

My first set of points were in the bag.

As the morning progressed I lost further 2 fish, and the day seemed to be getting colder, so bites were becoming fewer. It was time to switch onto the feeder. With a size 20 hook and alight hook length I casted to the end of the swim and was rewarded with a nice looking Chub that was a little large than the one I had caught earlier.

With the next cast the feeder landed in the same spot and I was rewarded with a brown trout, another set of points totaling 3 points.

By lunch time I had landed two more trout and another Chub, totaling 6 fish and I had lost 3 others

By 1pm I was so cold so it was time to call it a day. I think that there was something in the air, because the Ram on the far bank took a disliking to the tree opposite me and kept head butting the tree, maybe it was the fact I had the Archers on the radio.
