Xmas Fishing

Hi to all and hope every one got lots of presents to help in their angling pursuits. .

Was just wondering if anyone had been out over the last couple of days and managed to land anything in this cold weather?

Im hoping to have a couple of hours out tomorrow throwing my lures iinto a local lake for a croc or two, will be nice just to get out and walk off all those mince pies!

Will hopefully post some pics. tomoz depending on my success, or lack of.

Re: Xmas Fishing

Hi

I was out when the snow was about, temp was down to minus 2, I caught six Chub, all around 3lb from a tiny river near me, I could have jumped across it 30 years ago

I am hoping to go again tomorrow afternoon for the Chub and then after Zander on Wednesday/Thursday

I will let know how I get on

all the best for the new year

Darrell

Re: Xmas Fishing

i was out yesterday to be greated by 3 inches of ice across the 3 lakes i went to look at, so there was no pike for me... then went to a small river after some roach but the cold temperatures i think had put them off the feed... i am just hoping there is a big thaw today and tommorow so i can get out during the week..

tight lines,

BW

Re: Xmas Fishing

i know what you mean about the ice! Dores pond was totally unfishable, First pond only had about three swims free so had to concentrate my efforts on Island pond.

Suffice to say i ended up with nothing. There were a couple of other guys out piking but they were drawing a blank to. In the end i just got my flask out and had a warm cuppa tea just watching the water. Not really how i wanted to end my last session of 2009 but you cant fight the weather an was a nice enough day out.

ps. thats great catching those chub, sounds like a nice little river. I guess the chub dont mind whats going on as long as there is something to munch on!

pps. There were three cormorants out feeding today, no wonder fish stocks are running low!

Re: Xmas Fishing

Didn't fish but found myself walking with the girls next to the Severn (well they wanted some fresh air). The river is up a bit higher than I was expecting and looks absolutely freezing cold. Not sure if it's melt water from those parts that have defrosted . If it is then I doubt even the chub would be feeding, bit of colour to it too.

Re: Xmas Fishing

Of course I meant parts that have defrosted, the litter bugs weren't out yet (prats).
