| Pike fishing - a perfect Christmas antidote Every year after Christmas Day and Boxing Day are over I usually go pike fishing. I generally go to a favourite bit of river near to Bedford - The Ouse near Kempston. It is a good two mile walk to where the action is and then two miles back. This helps wear off a few mince pies and an excess of cooking sherry! LOL! Last year my Son and I caught 5 pike between us. The largest was a stonking 27lb - on a sprat. The smallest a pathetic 1.75lb - on a small lure. We had a great day and came back starving, drank more, ate more pies, slept well. I'll report back after this year's trip and try to take some pictures.  Has anyone else got a similar 'clear the cobwebs' trip in mind?     |
