River Cherwell tommorow? I am anxiously checking the weather forcast for tonight and tommorow as the Cherwell around Kidlington looks ok for a chub bashing trip. If that is rained off then its a maggor feeder with mag and worm on the hook up at Pimlico Fisheries near Croughton for some carp and big roach action. Well, thats the plan but you know what happens to plans and all that Get me cheesepaste and bread sorted out then!

Re: River Cherwell tommorow? Well, the river looked just great! lovely tinge of green, up about a foot and a half and running through nicely. It was mild, too mild really, and I had one good pull on the tip which was a chub but missed it and the rest of the time it was jab, jab, jab as small roach murdered the breadflake. I tried around a dozen swims up and down the river so got some exercise anyway. I ended up with 6 large gudgeon and a very small chublet on the maggot feeder but it was a pleasant day before the heavens opened last night. Hopefully, we should get some frost at the end of the week and that will do the job for those chub. ![]()

Re: River Cherwell tommorow? Fished it again yesterday. More or less the same conditions but definately colder. Result - One Chub on bread which went around half a pound. A few touches on maggot from small roach and some jabs from roach on bread but hard work all day. It looks in fine nick but it needs a few hard frosts to sort it out. then I will get some of these big chub.![]()

Re: River Cherwell tommorow? Kidlington AS f&f on Sunday!! Looking forward to it. Big brekkie at the sports club, draw and race off down to the hallowed water to find??? you've draw cyanide straight Then it's a bit bashing session, except no bits around Only joking, it can be won from anywhere and in the final few minutes too. A big chub, perch or even a slab can turn up at any time so just sit it out and wait and in any case you get a bottle of plonk even if you don't catch![]()

Well, 23 fished and 5 caught and I wasn't amongst them But I got the first runner up prize as the rest of the prizes were drawn from the hat and so I took home a big joint of ham on the bone OUTSTANDING!As predicted it was one fish for 4 out of those 5, either a slab or chub, and the 5th place weighed in two small chublets. Bloody freezing all day at -4c so no real surprises there. Fished it again since then, infact twice, and caught zilch even colder now though so even the little tap tap bites have dried up. Things will get better after this freeze warms up a bit I'm sure. I'v got some photos from yesterdays session so will haver to sort out how to load them up on here.

Re: River Cherwell tommorow? Try the Oxford canal at cropredy. Banbury side of bridge oposit the old manor. I used to live on (dare I say it) a narrow boat there. Stonking mirrors, monster chub and bream to name a few.Top of lock is club unfortunatly. Also the lasher at croppers on the cherwell. the bollocks for roach and chubb
