Re: Luke's carp catch report.

Didn't have too much luck with your Carp did you Luke? what with the number of runs you had but didn't manage to land. still never mind thats how it goes sometimes; it happens to us all occasionally.

What do you think caused the hook pulls? (stiff unforgiving rod? or too long a hair? or the wrong hook? or bait suspected by the Carp and therefore only held tentatively in lips? or some other reason?).

Hope you have better luck next time, I'm sure it will be different next time and you will be landing them all.

Re: Luke's carp catch report.

yea it was mostly my friend who was loosing the carp but i know why, he uses thick coated braid which spooks the carpp on the takes.

i was using a double boilie 16mm and that was what was working that day , REALLY WORKING
maybe the carp took it at the very bottom and swam off in a hurry wich gave a false run or becuz i didnt set the hook,
i dont like striking because poeple do that and the carps mouthh deforms,
(you can see the evidence when you get a fish)
otherwise i dont know mate
i can make rigs perfect, prehaps it was just bad luck hehe

Re: Luke's carp catch report.

never knew you had to strike forr a carp ? i thought they self hooked on 99% of rigs.
I would look more at the hook pattern if useing 2x16mm boilies ,and Hair length.

well people do strike to set the hook more

Must of been doing it wrong for the last 35 yrs , When fishing for carp 99.999 % of the time a bolt rig of some sort is used ,So the time your bobbin has moved the fish is self hooked ,Even with a running rig or a shocker rig it self hooks .

What hook pattern are you useing?
