Himely Hall (first session in a long time)

Well went to Himley Hall for my first fishing session in over 20yrs, went with my Nephew.
Got there for 8 in the morning, not many fishing, so set up simple waggler and size 16 with red maggots on my shiney 22 year old Shakespeare Firebird Coarse rod (3m) with matching real (onix) ,on Peg 68, Nephew went on peg 67.

Fished for a couple of hours not much happing then my nephew hit spot just of his peg, he pulled out small perch, I did few min afterwards, then my nephew pulled out ten more to my one, this wasn't going well for me... it was like this for the rest of the day, my newphew caught a grand total of 41 perch and 2 baby carp, I caught 3 perch and lost 2 while reeling them in. It seems when every nephew cast into this one spot he got a bite, managing twice to catch 5 fish of the same maggot.

It looks like the person day before must of dumped there bait in to lake day before, we know this because he turned up later and was little miffed my nephew was fishing on the peg he wanted.

I did ask my nephew to say if any one asks just give them the combined total of 46 so save me a little face as Ive just married in to his family who are all carpers, even the wife used to dabble..

In all I enjoyed the day out, it felt good to be fishing again after so long, Im 36 I lasted fished at when I was 16 and the last thing I caught was gudgeon on my then local canal. So 3 perch one which was over a pound was a good result.

if your fishing waggler you should fish on one of the pegs with lillys as this is where majority of the crucian tend to congrigate or about 15 foot past the lillys ,i fished there last week on swim feeder and usually i have a fair few tench butt after seven hours all i had was 1 roach who got used for bait but didnt manage to bag a pike eithier from talking to some of the syndicate chaps there saying that the fishing is not very good this season especialy the carp and tench

Re: Himely Hall (first session in a long time)

Well the return trip was more eventful but seems some one must of been reading this forums as all the pegs by the disable pegs were taking up so moved round to where all the lilly's are, 19 fish, 5 little 1lb carp rest all perch, and me catching nice 2lb perch. Also come back with a anglers tail.
Placing a little perch back in the to water only to see a pike take it. Then next catch I place the perch back into the water only to see its fin's raise up then swim right to the side of the water by my peg, then looking down again only to see a lovely 5-7lb pike stalking it.

Nice day fishing beating all my PB and seeing some nice classic cars as well as there was classic car rally on as well at Himely.

Re: Himely Hall (first session in a long time)

Might be back this Sunday not sure, went on Friday but total blank, 1 Perch while my nephew only caught 4, seems most of the other chaps fishing there where in the same boat nothing biting at all, least I got to sit outside for a while. Been given a Carp rod and sorted my self out with some carp tackle to try floating for carp (not a ledger fan) so who knows.....
