West Midlands Fishing Venues

Hi. I've recently picked up my rod & reel for the first time in 25 years, along with my Dad & Brother, and we are really enjoying getting back into it. We first went along to Foxhills Fishery which is on the borders of Birmingham & Walsall & while not the most picturesque of settings had a very successful day of catching many small roach Skimmer Bream and Dad bagged a fantastic Carp. Our second outing came yesterday at Kingsbury Water Park, which having looked at their website & literature we had high hopes for. Conditions weren't ideal being very hot and sunny but while the location was very beautiful, in complete contrast to our first trip the fishing was more than useless. In ten hours of fishing my brother & I got nothing & my Dad got 2 small Roach at the very end!

My reason for writing is for any good suggestions of day ticket venues you know of where we can go in the Birmingham/West Midlands area. We're not necessarily after monster Carp, just after somewhere where there is a good chance of catching a few varied fish to get us back into the swing of things. Perhaps some Tench & Bream. Any suggestions we be very much appreciated. Cheers, Richard.

Re: West Midlands Fishing Venues

Hey Rich. Not really my kind of fishing (I prefer a touch more salt in my water!) but try search for some of Barbel-blankers posts. That might point you in the right direction.

From another West Midlands Rich, of the year '75!

Re: West Midlands Fishing Venues

For venues in the West Mids try this link:
http://www.baa.uk.com/home/default.php

Or my local venue (SW Brum):
http://www.fisheries.co.uk/alvechurch/index.htm

Or:

http://www.dayhousefarmfishery.com/

I've only started fishing again myself this season after an absence of 20 odd years and I am very surprised at the amount of venues in Brum, as I say Alvechurch is my closest and I've hade some cracking days up there - I've also blanked a couple of times!!!

Have fun.

Re: West Midlands Fishing Venues

I haven't fished it to be honest, I usually fish the Horeshoe or the House pool which provide great sport - I will have a crack at it though sooner or later.

Re: West Midlands Fishing Venues

Thanks for the info, I'll have a look at Barston. Like you I haven't fished the Arrow for many years but I hear that it's still fishing very well - so many venue's, so little time eh?
