| A day on Park Lake I decided that it was time that I pulled my socks up and start catching some fish for the Species Hunt. Therefore, with the Crucian carp in mind and hopefully a Barbell I set off to Todber manor to fish Park Lake. The forecast was not to great with heavy showers predicted I bit the bullet and set off at 10.30, by the time I messed around buying a few things from the tackle shop it was 1pm before I started to fish. My plan of attack was to fish two spots, one on my main pole at 9mtrs with Corn and Pellet and my second point was the margin to my left on my margin pole with my favorite bait “Bacon Grill” {View to my Left} ![]() {View to my Front} ![]() I started on the 9mtr line and within 5 mins, I caught my first fish, a small F1 Carp. ![]() The bites came at regular intervals and the qualities of the F1’s were top draw. After ½ an hour I went onto the margin pole, my first fish was a small roach then the second fish was my target fish. A nice Crucian ![]() 1 and ½ points in the bag, so onto my next target the Barbell. As the day progressed and the showers becoming heavier, the fishing got better and better. {Me playing a fish at holding the camera} ![]() {Heavy Rain Clouds} ![]() I was catching well when I hooked into a strong fish that stretched the elastic to almost to limits, The fish didn’t fight like a carp it was more dogged, my first thought was it the Barbell I was looking for, No. Nevertheless, it was a fish I needed for the species hunt. 1 and ½ points for an Eel. ![]() But wasn’t the only surprise for the day. I caught and beautiful Golden Tench ![]() It has been over Twenty years since I had caught a Golden Tench and I went and caught 5. Not certain if they are in the Species Hunt but if they are that was another 1 and ½ points but if not I was great to catch one again. I also caught a nice bream as well ![]() And I caught some nice Mirrors as well. ![]() I finished at 6:30pm and headed home with a huge smile on my face. Shame I didn’t catch that elusive Barbell. __________________ Born to fish made to work |
