Another nice chub

[Down-the-drain]

I was fishing on my regular stretch of the river Great Ouse in Bedford yesterday evening , when at around 7pm my rod wipped round and I hit into this little beauty :



It was bombing all over the swim and I almost lost it under some sunken tree roots but gave the line some slack and let it come back out again.
I was in absolute awe of this creature , the pictures really don't do it justice but it is easily my personal best.

Again I was going for barbel , hair rigging a big lump of luncheon meat on a 1oz leger but I really cannot begrudge a beautiful animal like that taking my bait.
I was so chuffed I decided to go home there and then , figuring I probably would't be able to top that if I stayed.

Cheers , it seemed to have damage on both of its flanks just below the dorsal. I thought it might have been a pike trying to take it but it must have been a big pike. The damage looked fairly new.
