Here goes the forum name (I hope). I am fifty fifty at the moment wether to get out of bed at 4 and go to get a barbel out (if I can). Reports are that the severn is a little dicky at the moment so I might just go down to the Teme instead. If I go , I'll let you know what happens. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Here goes the forum name (I hope). Well I hope twiddler is doing better than me today. BLANKED!! Got there in time for a 5 am start after finding a swim downstream from a natural wier. Water was pushing through though the far bank had a bit of a back eddy and slack. Dropped a "Matt Hayes" time bomb, feeder full of halibut groubdbait and smaller pellets. The rod tip nodded in the flow but no bites. As the light levels grew and I realised I might well be fishing right in the middle of a weed bed, it dawned on me that I had not explored the swim with a heavy lead before I started. Well at least I learnt a lesson from this. Retake up golf ?? Nah! Had a quick look at a downstream swim where Molly had caught a grayling last winter. Sort of expected the level to be a lot lower . It wasn't. Shockingly there appeared to be little difference (no more than a few inches) in the level of flow. The same cannot be said for the bankside undergrowth. I half expected Ray Mears to hack his waythrough it, eyelevel stingy nettles. Hmm! Took the girls to Nordley 4 after a kip of a couple of hours. I specifically went after the carp but blanked again. Girls had a few roach and perch and were quite happy just catching tiddlers. Ho! Hum! I might just give the Stour a bash tomorrow evening as I've only fished it in the winter. This could be fun, unfiortunately I am also on call in case the vital , nationally important, electricity bill system fails to work properly (again, again, again) so have to be quite close to home. Ah well! Pick the wife up at 8:30 and then I can have a long soak , a beer and then it's in to the shed to tidy to hell hole that is my tackle box. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Here goes the forum name (I hope). Sorry to hear about the blank, every one of my barbel sessions has ended in ablank, although I have hooked them when gudgeon fishing. I guess they have the chance to get a little bit bigger.
