Opening Day on the River Parrett

Afternoon All,

I've just got back from the River and it's fishing really well.

For those who know the Langport ticket water, I fished at Oath between the footbridge and the start of the tidal stretch.

I set up a feeder rod and a waggler rod and fished worm and caster cocktails on the feeder and corn, caster, maggot, and bread on the waggler.

It was a bite a chuck on the waggler. Roach to 8ozs and Chub to the same. Nothing huge but great sport.

The feeder produced skimmers to nearly 2lb and more small Chub and Roach. Surprisingly, I didn't get a small Rudd all morning. The big Bream and Tench eluded me yet again but I'll be back.

Good luck to all.

Re: Opening Day on the River Parrett

Sounds like you had a good bit of sport, How long do the rivers stay open for? Over here we dont have a close season for coarse fish on rivers, personally i think it should be introduced.

Well Done,

BW

Re: Opening Day on the River Parrett

Hi All,

Looking for a bit of advice. I've just bought a property on the River Parrett with river access (not far from Oath actually) and would like to try my hand at coarse fishing. The only fishing I do is sea fishing (got the gear, go regulary).

So, obviously a new set of tackle is required, but I have NO idea what to use for coarse fishing!

Any advice appreciated on a starter rig.

Thanks
