Lucombes fishery

As i cant really fish over the weekends at the moment i went to a local fishery on the way home after work to lucombes in exminster. lakes were small but deep 13 foot in places. I fished to rods tight to the bottom. I had never fished these fishery before so i was keen to see what the lake held.

My first fish of the day was a perfect 12.5 lb common carp in mint condition this fell to the good old prawn bait. I the had a couple of 3-5 lb ers. My margin rod the screemed of with a nice 9 lb mirror. It was 10pm so i thought it was best to start packing up. all i had left was 1 rod, landing net, unhooking matt and tri pod. I was raying for one more fish so i started to pack my tripod away. Just as i was putting the tri pod into its bad my reel screamed of. I struck into it and could tell it was goin to be a nice fish. It was staying deep at first i thought i didnt realise it was hooked. After a little fight i bought to the surface a 5lb eel.

So all in all a very good evenings fish that only cost me £4

5lb eel is a hell of fish mate. Could be 50 years old!
