Evening on Nordley no 1

BAA Nordley lake no 1.

Got there about 7:30 so set up one rod on dog biscuit and one on a bolt rig. The bolt rig went under a bankside tree with two mini scopex boilies, hemp and mini pellets as feed. Set up the bite alarm and bait runner then helped Molly set up her rod and reel she had for her birthday (as well as a landing net and handle, she's well chuffed).

Once I'd got little miss independence sorted I set up an avon rod for some surface fishing .

First bite came on the bolt rig with a sail away bite. At first Mr Carp didn't seem to realise it was hooked. That didn't last and after an arm aching fight a fish that register 8LB was in the net and unhooked.

This is probably my biggest verified carp so I am well chuffed.

Had the littlest one in tow but she didn't want to fish so was reading a book and looking at ducks through the binocolurs (this is going somewhere).

I was struggling to cast a bait using the middy surface controller so I got one of my home made ones out , much heavier and quite capable of crossing Nordley in one bound. So I cast it miles out so the bait was on it's own for a while. Missed one, then another so ibaited an area closer in and nicked the binos from Amy (told you it was going somewhere). Tightened the line down to the controller as much as I could and watched what was going on. There were fish there alright and I actually saw the carp swirl slowly up to the bait before taking it and , missed another one.

So it was out again and watch with the binos . Sure enough a pair of lips came up and WHAM! . This one was even less aware until it caught sight of my ugly mug and decided that the last thing it wanted to do was give me a birthday eve kiss . On an avon rod this was a great scrap and the rod proved itself more than able to cope with the fishes lunges while giving enough to be forgiving.

Well this one went 12LB on the scales so the verified PB went within the hour.

Chuffed at actually catching two fish and one (the bolt one) on a methid that was new to me, great !

As I will probably have a free pass tomorrow , I think I'll be back.

Molly caught a few roach, I left her to it a lot more than in the past , she's getting there .

Cheers.

Re: Evening on Nordley no 1

Hope this uploads, this is the smaller of the two.
Molly was struggling with the camera on number two and I'd rather have no piccy and a live carp than the othe way round. interestingly the larger fish appeared to only have one eye, just as well it had a spare.

Here goes.
