A week away

First of all i would like to thank Les for his great hospitality. He called me on the 18th May to say he would be up this neck of the woods and asked me if i would like to spend the week with him fishing our club waters. It was an offer i could not refuse.

Anyway fishing.

Friday

The first day, Friday saw us at Blyton, a cracking pond stocked with, Tench, Carp, Skimmer, Roach and Chub. For bait we had red maggot and white maggot, pellets, sweetcorn and bread. We both fished the waggler. We tackled up and then we decided to go for a full English, two bacon, two sausages, mushrooms, black pudding, eggs and fried bread, washed down with a fine mug of tea.

Les was the first to land a fine roach, they were followed by more. I was soon into the roach, again followed by more, then the skimmers moved in for both of us. We both fished at close range, not even a rod length out. It was great fun on the waggler, i had not had a full session for years waggler fishing. Must do it more often.
It was a great day's fishing, we a good mate on a good venue and good weather.

Saturday

Again back to Blyton, and what a cracking day it was.

I started fishing the feeder yet again, Les and i had the same pegs, Les started on the waggler. Agin roach, skimmers were the mainstay of the catch, we both had a good amount. I lost count how many i had landed.

Les decided to fish the pole, ( NODDY ANGLING ) and what a choice it was. He fished floating bread and it proved the right choice. Carp after carp came for the floating bread. In al he must have had around 25+
Here's a few pictures of the the average carp we were catching. Les was a very happy bunny on Saturday

We called it a day and returned to Les's. We both hod a fresh cupa, then a shower, then off to the pub for a few beers. After the pub it was PIZZA time, MEATY FEAST, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Sunday

We decided to go to another club water today, what a day, the day was blazing down, very hot and no wind.
We went to a place called North Whatley. a little irigation water near Gainsborough.
Here's a picture of Les on his peg

I dont know if it was the heat but the fishing was slow, small roach did come to the baits, but after the day before it was a bit of a let down, but we were both catching. Les got the better roach of the day, and here it is
.

We called it a day at around 2pm, we decided to go home for a few hours and then off to Blyton for an evening session.
Yet again we were soon catching roach and skimmers. We both fished the waggler again. But again, i dont know if it was the heat of the day but the fish were not in abundance like the day before. But it was great fun.

Monday
No fishing today, we had a run to Mickleover to see Mark and his family. We arrived there at around 11am, Mrk and Lesley were still out, but Emma was in the house. Greeting and soon a hot tea was o the table. Mark and Lesley arrived shortly.Another cup of tea and a chat, oh and a few little nipping bites off Poppy, a smashing little puppy she is. Mark invited us out for lunch, and i would like to thank him again for the lunch. After lunch we visited a place very familiar to a lot of people. Can you guess where. LoL

Here's the giveaway. LoL

It was great to see the river again in all its splendour. We had a walk the full length of the stretch, stopping at each peg.

Here's Les and i on peg one.

Hopefuly we might get an invite to fish the stretch in the coming season, :fishing1:

Tuesday was a non fishing day also, we had a look around the club waters. :TT

Wednesday

Back again to Blyton. Another great day on the waggler for both of us. Carp, roach and skimmers, i did land a cracking chub, all on the waggler.
Below is my best of the day

The wather was getting worse by the minute, the wind was blowing our brollies almost inside out, and it was getting colder. So we decided to call it a day.
On the way home we popped into Yaddlethorpe Ponds, nice and sheltered so we decided to have a few hours. The we both fished the waggler again, and soon after the firsy cast the roach came to the baits, in all i had 6 roach and three perch. We stayed for about an hour and ½. Another good day altho the weather tried its best to spoil it. Back to Les's. We got fed and had a couple of beers. An early night was clled for, i think the wind and rain took its toll.

Thursday

Back to Blyton, The weather was kinder today, slight wind and sunshine, We chose diffrent pegs today. I fished the waggler again, Les fished the pole and waggler.
I had a terrific day with the roach and skimmer, i lost count at 70+ roch and at least a dozen skimmers. Les was into the roach also. It was a pleasant day with great chatter.

Friday, today was time to come home, up nice and early, showered and ready, Les dropped me off at the station and it was a nice comfy train ride home
The summing up M'Lud

A cracking weeks fishing with Les on cracking waters. Great craic and great company. The fishing, cracking stuff. What more could anyone want.

Once again Les, a thanks very much for your very kind offer and hospitality mate. Until the next time
