Newbarn Farm

hi all,

The family have just booked this years holiday at Newbarn Farm in Devon, it looks a lovely venue with some nice sport to be had. It will take a bit to live up to last years holiday at Anglers Paradise, but still it looks like a great trip is going to be had.

Anyone have any experience of the venue or heard much about it ?

BW

Re: Newbarn Farm

Hi Dave,

We are going away the 3rd week of August i beleive, for a week staying on site in "Lambs Gate". I was hoping for just some good quality fishing and hopefully a new PB Carp which only stands at 9lbs as the summer holidays to England is the only chance i ever get to target the species. I also am led to beleive that there are some quality roach to be had so one of them would be nice.

Cheers,

BW

Re: Newbarn Farm

hi blackwater

yes the roach now have all been moved from the specimen lake upto willow lake.....prior to them being moved it was almost impossible to get through them and catch a carp.....(10,000 roach upto 2.5lbs are annoying!! in a 1 acre lake!) now the lake is mainly carp and large eels (if your into that kinda thing ) some big eels too 6lb lurk in there.

what is your still of fishing for carp?... if your more a boilie man with bite alarms....then richworth kg1's work ok and hawian pineapple are even better! however during daylight hours you probably wont get many fish on bottom baits all the carp are on the top sunning themselves get yourself some chum mixer and free line a biscuit... you will see the fish all over the surface and you literally have to stick the biscuit on the fishes head to tempt them to feed.

early mornings and late evenings maggots fishing in the margins (and i mean literally 3 inches from the edge) can also be an expensive killer but you need a stealth approach to tempt them into the bank otherwise they see you spook and thats your chance gone...you need to slide across your belly on the grass and drop handfuls and handfuls of maggots into the margin at no more than an arms length out.. then floatfish or even light ledger the maggots without your rodtip reflection being seen in the water!

i hope all this helps you if you pm me nearer the time the lake is very local to me i will give you my number and pop across and fish with you one day!

cheers

dave

Re: Newbarn Farm

Great help thanks alot,

The carp seem like they are going to be a nice challenge which i will enjoy and i would love to catch one of the top as in 5 years of carp fishing i have yet to do so.

I was wrong about it being the 3rd week in August i think its the 2nd week now

I will make sure to PM you nearer the time so we can arrange a Day.

Cheers,

Justin
