| long session at tilgate hi guys & gals, well, after another busy start to the week & another interview tuesday (which i think went ok) i decided to go fishing yesterday, after my early start the other week, i thought i'd go a little earlier ... just as the day is dawning (as postman pat sang). my plan was all set out, but i started to worry i might turn the alarm off & go back to sleep as i crawled into bed just gon midnight, then it was gone 1am before i fell asleep. my alarm went off at 4am, made my flask, got dressed in the living room (apparently, i'm very loud & normally wake mrs asp up) & was gone by 4.30, after a quick stop at the cashpoint (incase the bailiff came round) & was set up making my 1st cast into the 'silt lake' by 5.30. i'd decided to try a different peg to my normal one, it had plenty of branches overhead (had to do all underarm casts), shallow to either side, but about a 40 degree swim, with lillies/weeds from the right to about 1/2 way across my swim about 20 yards out. just using groundbait & pellet with method feeders on both rods, i put 1 rod to about 1/2 way along the weeds, a couple of feet infront of them, the other was to just off the edge of the lillies. it was a bit slow to start with, but eventually my swim came good ... 1lb8oz bream 1lb10oz bream roach roach 2lb3oz tench 3lb10oz tench 3lb12oz tench 1lb15oz tench roach 3lb10oz bream 2lb9oz bream a gudgeon foul hooked itself a few minutes after 1 cast, but it didn't do itself any harm & swam off on it's merry way. i eventually packed up just after 2ish & got home for 3, where i had to promply get changed & take mrs asp shopping as she was cooking for her mum, brother, uncle & cousin. about 4.30 a courier came with a box ... although addressed to mrs asp, she checked the paper work & said happy birthday ... it was my bivvy she ordered last week. all in all, it was a great session & day, we eventually crawled into bed about 10ish ... bed never felt so good lol. __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk     |

| Re: long session at tilgate cheers guys, the catches were all the better for the very slow start & about 15 minutes after i'd set up, 3 guys set up on the 2 pegs i normally use, so were fishing to the other side of the lillies/weeds to me, so shad some competition, although they were float fishing, wheras i was on the method & don't know if they'd caught as some overhanging trees blocked my view of their pegs. will hopefully get out for a night session to test the new bivvy before the end of the month, so no doubt another report to follow lol. __________________ www.mobilespanner1.co.uk |
