sid77 is on a distinguished road
four rudd over two pound.

good days sport, overslept and got out of bed at 8.00 and saw that the sky was pretty clear, grabbed a few essentials ie rod, reel, net and rucksack with bait, tackle and flask and rode my bike down to the reservoir.

i set up in the far corner and set up with a cage feeder loaded with mixed brown/white crumb with flake on a size 16 hook to 3 pound line fished paternoster style.

within minutes the bloody canada geese appeared,7 of them, who all seemed hellbent on fighting each other,no matter what i did, they kept coming back,so i moved to the other end and set up on the dam wall under an oak tree.
the sun was beaming down and thousands of flys hovered just above the surface of the water where rudd were taking them.
threw out a couple mashed slices of white bread to a bar and then cast out.

first fish was a roach of about 8 0z,for the next 2 hours i was only getting little twitches, nothing i could strike on so i made a couple of changes and that seemed to do the trick.
a good wrap round and a good fought fight brought a 2lb 1 0oz rudd to the net,a beautifull fish.
i cast out and poured a cuppa and rolled a fag,as i took a sip another run,this time a 2lb 14 oz stunner!

by the time i weighed it,took a photo and released it none the worst for wear for its ordeal,my tea was tepid so i necked it and cast out again.
i was very relaxed enjoying the tranquill environment and didnt get any bites for the next hour, probably spooked the rudd playing the last one in.

so out went some mashed bread again and another good bite,a drop back, this time a good rudd of 2lb 6 oz,i was seriously happy at this point because you dont catch rudd like this easily.
it was now about 2.30 and the rudd were right up in the water and were avoiding the lower half so i made an adjustment so that i was fishing zig rig style and a 2lb 12 oz was netted!

this is possibly the best rudd fishing i have done and im sure it was my home made groundbait of mixed brown/white crumb with crumbled up salmon boilies and a few pellets.

i then landed another 2lber and 2 of around 1lb 6 oz

i took some photos on my mobile that arent the best but i cant work out how to put them on here.
