| Higher farm Ian had asked me if I wanted to go fishing at Higher Farm over the weekend and see if we could catch some Orfe, well not one for refusing to go fishing I agreed, we decided that Sunday would be the best day. On awaking the day didn’t look to great with heavy showers and a strong wind, but being keen we still went and we arrived at the lakes at 11:15am just as the Archers finished on Radio 4. Both Ian and I managed to get set-up before the rain started, we both decided to fish the wagglar, My main line of attack was to be maggot but Ian chopped and changed from Maggot to corn and overall produced the better fish. I tried my new Margin pole out with meat but I only caught a gudgeon and on a 24 elastic it didn’t really show the potential of the pole. Ian caught the best fish of the day a nice carp of around d the 4lb mark. ![]() With both of us catching small Rudd and some nice Roach, I was the first to catch a Golden Orfe 1 ½ points thank you very much. ![]() The rain stayed with us for most of the day and with wind swirling it made it awkward for fishing, but we continued with a smile on our faces, I was chuffed that I had an Orfe and Ian hadn’t, but blow me he went and caught one just as I hooked and landed my second Orfe. ![]() As the day wore on, we stopped for the day as the pub gently called us from out of the rain. Overall we caught plenty of fish, Ian did very well with over 25lb and this included a nice roach as well ![]() Ian’s catch: ![]() My Catch of around 10lb: ![]() Some pictures of the Lake: ![]() ![]() Overall a great day and top draw fishing. __________________ Born to fish made to work |

| As Steve say, it was an excellent days fishing. I fished the waggler, which made a change from my usual pole tactics on this type of fishery. Higher farm contains some stunning quality fish, which fed well despite the conditions. Definately going back to try for the double figure Ghost Carp that was slurping floating pellets off the surface right below my rod tip... ![]() __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |
