| rudd in the rain got up at 6.00am to the sound of rain pelting down, gutted,i was looking forward to a session at a reservoir near me. after about an hour it eased off so i decided to travel light and travelled down with just a rucksack, rod, reel and landing net, found shelter under an oak tree on the dam wall and set up in drizzle. cast out a feeder full of mixed white/brown crumb with flake on a size 12 hook and cast out 20 yards hoping for a decent rudd. it starts hammering down as i leant against the oak tree staring at the quiver tip.started getting little touches but nothing i could strike on so i lengthen the hooklength by 8 inches and cast out again,i strike into a decent take and play a 1lb 6 oz rudd in the heavy rain.excellent start. at this point im fairly wet but load the feeder and cast out again, after about half hour im into a bigger fish which i could tell was another rudd, this one was 2lb bang on. i lost a similar sized rudd and at this point im soaked so time to go home. well worth the 2 and half hours spent in the rain. |
