| A point-less day for me, and 3 points for Greenheart Well today saw me back at Crockerton; I had arranged to meet Ian there at 8:00am. However, I arrived at 7:00am, on arrival at the lake there were a few anglers already there and the two pegs I fancied had been taken so I plodded my way round to peg 14, this peg is a nice peg and pole friendly. I made my mind up to fish the pole, with two different areas, one straight out in front of me and the other too my left tight to a branch. The area in my front I fed maggot and corn and to the other swim I fed my favorite bait for Crockerton, Bacon Grill. ![]() It was 7:30sih when I started and straight away on the maggot line I hooked a small skimmer, and for next hr I was hooking roach and small skimmers. By 8:45 Ian still hadn’t arrived so a quick phone call found that he was on his way. Ian set himself up in peg 15 (Ian Hiding, Glad he is not wearing his Realtree Kit) ![]() At around 9:00 I went over the meat line, which produced a good skimmer. However, the bites started to become very few and far between. So back on the maggot line and even these started to dry up. Ian too was struggling and it wasn’t till Ian started to catch up in the water that I change my approach as well. I went on the whip, fishing at 7 mtrs with a 5ft rig and I fished on the drop, this produced some nice roach. I remained on the Whip for an hour or so, when Ian hooked into a nice fish, he had gone back onto the meat and by doing this he secured some points by catching a nice Tench, and with the bream he caught earlier he had gained 3 points. The Tench ran him all over the place, but on catching the fish it turned out to be a nice male of around 4lb mark. After watching him and taking a photo for him, I returned to the meat rig and the first put in saw the float slide away, my first thought was, “was it a Tench.” Nope it was a carp. The fish gave good account for itself and it took a while to land, a nice common of 8lb. ![]() We fished until 3:30pm and even though we caught, the lake still fish slow, I think that the water just needs to warm up a little bit more. I recon I had about 16lb of fish, 8lb carp and 8lb of bits and skimmers and 1 good bream. But it’s better than going to work __________________ Born to fish made to work |

| As steve has already said. We had a couple of good fish, but the fishing was very slow. We still ended the day with a reasonable mixed bag consisting of Carp, Tench, Rudd, Roach, Bream & perch. High point of the day for me was watching a tenanger who was obviously terrified of the lakes resident geese trying to exit the porta-loo on the otherside of the lake. The aggressive geese were obviously well aware that he was scared of them & were determined to keep him prisioner in there by attacking him every time he tried to leave. This lasted for about 10 minutes, until Steve (Who's used to the geese) bravely went to his rescue.. ![]() Steve playing his carp... Porta-loo & Geese just visable through the trees... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |
