| Fly Fishing The Brue Well I've been planning this for ages, and it seemed to be the right tiome to have a go. My fishing pal, JP, now on here as Jolly Piscator and have been fishing the river during the coarse season. As members of Glaston Manor, we can fly fish some of the upper sections on our ticket. Neither of us had fly fished a river before, (JP only started fly fishing last year, after watching me, so he's got some bad habits already!!!) and JP had treated himself to a new fly rod. So we set off. There was very little weed, and no cover on the bank. We tried the weir pool at Lydford, but casting was near impossible due to over hanging trees. JP spotted some rises down stream, we crept along and managed to cast, using small black nats, I was into the first fish, an out of season chublet about 3-4ozs, JP had his first fish on the dry fly from a river a few moments later. In the shallow clear water the fish were easily spooked, esp after returning on of them. We mananged a brace and I now hold the rocord for the smallest chublet on a fly, I'll up load the pics tmrw, as I am shattered right now. Next time we'll try to find the trout, shame we caught chubs today, as they are out of season, felt wrong, but as we had intended to catch trout, we did not feel too bad.... |

| Re: Fly Fishing The Brue Sorry for the delay in getting these snaps on the forum, first is JP trying to cast to some rising fish, and the second is possibly the smallest chub ever caught on a dry fly, size 18 black gnat. Please don't hurt yourselves laughing. ![]() ![]() |
