A Days Fishing at Wadmill Lake at Todber Manor fisheries

I had appointment with my diabetic nurse at 8:00am this morning and I was finished by 8:10. So what to do with rest of my day, I have been off work for the last 9 days due to the car accident and other issues. So with the whole day in front of me I decided I would go fishing. At the moment I have a hire car, a Matiz, I grabbed what I could fit into the car and set of too Todber Manor.

I arrived at around 9:15, spent 5mins in the tackle shop buying bait and a little bit of tackle. I decided that I would fish Wadmill. So of I went, I found a nice peg for which had the wind blowing from right to left.

I decided that I would fish my Barbel rods on the alarms, with both rigs set up with 6lb hooklength’s haired, the main line being 8lb. Bait wise I used Todbers Red Factor 10mm Boilies, and Sunobaits 8mm Hookable Halibut Pellets; the first went by without a single bleep, then 10 minutes into the second hour my right hand rod screamed off. This was the boilie rod, after a good five minutes I went and lost the fish, the hook length snapped Grrr. No sooner as I re-set up the rod the left hand rod tore off. Yep you guessed it that one came off as well, double Grr. After twenty minutes or so the Boilie rod went off again, this time it produced a nice Mirror carp of 7lb 4ozs.

Then no sooner as the fish went back the left hand rod went off again to produce a nice Bream of 5lb

By 1pm I had landed another nice fish 2lb 8oz, I think that it is a Gold fish, but it looked to me like a Silver Crucian Carp, Judge for yourselves let me know what you think?

My next fish was a cracking Common of 10lb this fish gave a good account of its self taking me 10 minutes to land on the light tackle.

I had two more bites before I left and only landed the one a Bream of 5lb 4oz’s I noticed that the fish had tubicles so I reckon that Bream are getting ready to spawn.

I Stayed until 15:30 and called it a day with 30lb of fish in the bag i was well happy.

Nice one Steve. Shame about the bream. Nasty bit of wind out today, we were a bit chilly on our hill here.
