Sunny day at Berkley

Due to the sad fact that i run my own business, I could not make it out for the last day of the seaosn on a ruiver, but I was able to get on the bank on Sunday, and a trip top Berkley was on the cards, it happened ot be JP's birthday, so we pigged out on garlic burgers at my place, prior to getting to the bank. Suitable filled we set up in the area of peg 19, roughly middle of the lake.
Things were a little slow to begin with, JP wa susing the Hardy rod he picked up in a antique shop, shortly after christmas, he had taken it to Lords Walk the day before and was happily retelling tales of Grayling, trout and chub, with the odd dace. Lucky ba*****.
He did have a very nice roach after about half an hour, followe dby a few smaller ones. I took a roach a bit smaller than his when i got to have a go with the Hardy. To be honest I did not spend too much time worrying about my fishing, I was happy to be in the sun, (I'll be in the Sun Inn tmrw eve!!) by a lake. I had some lovely small carp, nothing for the species hunt tho.
Here's a pic of the Hardy with the roach, 'fraid I exposed for the rod not the fish.

And JP trying not show fear when something decent grabbed his bait, although I could see he was a bit concerned, that rod is 105 yeasr old.

The result, less harsh light,

I did some exploring, and checking of banksides, and my eye was drawn to this.
Rekon its a fair bit older than JP's new (old) rod. By about 120,00,000 years, from teh later part of the era, about or approx 20,000,000 years before the meteor hit. Just how old is Berkley Lake???
