i think i've found my favorite lake

hi all, had another day out on the silt lake at tilgate park, crawley today.
i thought i'd leave it a few days as it was packed on the weekend, glad i did ...
after a chat with 1 of my neighbours between my flat & car, i got my maggotts & off i went, set up on my regular peg.
1st cast was about 11am, usually i set up with cage feeder on 1 rod & basic ledger on the other, but today i set up with cage feeders on both.
after only 15 minutes, the bites started, a few moments later, i was reeling in what felt like a good fish. a new pb bream, although i didn't weigh it, it was bigger than my previous bream i caught there.
after that, it was skimmer bream & roach, they just didn't stop comming!
another bream (about 1lb) then more skimmers & roach.
about 3, a former work colleague decided to visit. we had a good chat about where we used to work & he popped in & said how bad it's got there in the last month & then we turned to more important chat ... fishing, he's a member of crawley angling society & does mainly club matches, starting to do more pleasure now he's retired. he was witness to a bite that dragged my rod along the pod rod, struck & as i was playing the fish, my hook length failed, so made up a new hook length, rebaited & cast back out to try again for "the big 1", but no luck.
he said my tactics were obviously working, but i was using river tactics (only tactics i know lol). he gave me a little advice for next time & said i should get the bigger fish easier ... will wait & see.
packed up about 4.30 & i showed him my keepnet, he reckoned the bream was close to 2lb, but as we didn't weigh it, i can't confirm. there were about 20 bream, skimmer & roach in all.
going to find out if the lake closes (it's council run) but will arrange a day out on a lake soon & see if i can learn still water tactics.

Re: i think i've found my favorite lake

cheers guys, if i don't manage to get out sunday, i'll take a stroll round either during the week or next weekend (take missus & toddler for a mothers day outing at tilgate park & lake to see if it runs the closed season.
if open, then she'll loose me a few more times (untill my money runs out, then i'll be a kept man lol, unless i get a job).
will report back as soon as i know either way as to whether or not it closes.
if anyone wants to try the lake, pm me when up this way & we can have a meet.
keep asking the missus if she fancies a holiday at different places around the country, but she's caught on that the desitnations are all fisheries & she replies with a resounding no! ... i'll win her round though
