| A carbon copy of Steve and Claudia's day. JP and I went ot our new section of the Avon on Sunday, we did not have the overcast which those two had, we had bright sunshine, which was nice but I dfelt the fish would have prefered some overcast. I was not able to leave before 12, as there had been a 10k road race, a good letch tho. Ladies in lycra running past the house. We arrived and met two other members, who had been on the river, they found the river to be hard going. But to their credit, they did say that they were not too seasoned on rivers, and were approaching it with a carp anglers kit. I chose a pitch below what is known as the beech, a beautiful sweeping glide and set up an avon, for the avon, and a feeder rod, with corn, as I have never managed to catch a fish on corn from a river! I kid you not. Everything looked wonderful, except the rods stayed straight, afetr a few hours hunger got the better of me, so I fired up the stoved, and got some garlic burgers on the go. Garlic Buger, with watercress salad, delicious, way better than sarnies, did have a big bag of Kettle chips and a can to compliment them. ![]() After lunch I had a go in the weir pool with paste, no joy, but I did have a good look at the river with polaroids. It was extremely clear, more so than the Royalty or other 'clear river' I put this down to no rain since the snow melt. I played about witha flouro boilue and a heavy lead, lowering it in to test the depth and the visability of the water, I could see the boilie about 5 feet down!!! This is the reason its not been fishing too well. I planned on going back to the weir, but some dog people were playing with sticks and their beasts, so I waited and explored. I did spot some superb swims, which in the warmer monthes I think will roduce some great chub and barble, along with some lovely spots for trotting, for roach and dace. There were a few signs that pike were active, and the fool writing this had no pike gear. I went back to the weir poool and was rewarded with a small chub about 1lb, which saved me a blnak, sadly JP did not managed a fish, but the rascal did go in the week, and grassed a 4.4.0 chub. Here's my littly chubby. ![]() And finally a pic os Banana Steve, on realising he has been bought a pkt of Cajuan Squirrel crisps. ![]() |

| I think you're right Matt. The rivers still too cold & too clear. Can't wait to get up there in the summer though when it colours up a bit. Well done JP on that 4lb+ Chub though. __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |
