The Brue....out of order?

Sunday seemed the perfect day, I left home in cloud and warmth, and collected JP and we headed down to the Brue via the Gliant Flea market at Shepton Mallet. JP picked up a nice woodedn centrepin, and I a love wicker tacklebox, from the 50's.
The river had some nice colour to it, and we had decided to try some new spots, evidence from matches and bankside disturbance, guided us to spot a couple of miles upstream of our usual section.
Nothing, to either trooted maggies, feeder or bomb, nothing for over an hour, we hopped and changed, worms and paste. Nothing, not a sauasage.
We moved to a new spot downstream, which looked nice. The sun had come out, and although we trying to be careful with regard to our shadows scaring the fish, we still had no luck.
We spoke to a man spinning, who said the river had been very funny for a while, and had not known it to fish like this for years, he was in his forties and had been fishing it since his childhood.
Upstream of our second spot.

Downstream, looked nice.

But sadly no fish.

We mooved again, to our most regulary fished section, and found a spot where we would cast no shadows and no skylining. Nothing, for a couple of hours we tried and tried, eventually I had a little prch, and a ew minutes later a couple of nice Gudgeon, finally I added a tiny roach.
I had another hint of a bite beginning, so I got JP to take it, he had a little perch to prevent his blank.
Never known the river like this, thought it might still be recovering from the snow and grit?
The colours on the perch looked a little faded.
