| Finally Got Out On the Bank! All sorts of things have conspired to stop me getting out on the bank so far this winter. Xmas/New year was incredibly busy for us at work (thankfully) and I also spent some time "abroad" on the Isle of Wight with one of my sons and his partner. I've only managed 2 or 3 trips so far but at least I've had some very nice chub from the Dorset Stour. A couple of planned trips had to be cancelled as:

![]() But this weekend I got down there again and although the levels had dropped, they were still a bit too high and the flood had left its mark! ![]() I tried several swims and did manage a couple of small chub on the float but it was really hard, tiring work as the pace of the flow was just too heavy. I did manage to hook and lose a couple of decent fish, one was a good seatrout that soon came adrift and the other was probably a big chub which eventually kited across the current into a pile of roots and brambles and deftly deposited the hook in the snag! As a diversion, I tried a couple of slacks and did have several roach with the best going about a pound, a pleasant suprise to find these fish. ![]() Back in the pacy swims I eventually had a bite which turned out to be a tiny Salmon Parr. There are quite a few about at this time of year but I was suprised to nab one from such a powerful flow. Still at least its more points for the Species Hunt. ![]() The river should be in perfect winter trim within the next couple of days and if it remains fairly mild, the weekend could be a very good bet! __________________ "I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order" Eric Morcambe |

| Re: Finally Got Out On the Bank! well done on the fish, I always find it hard to catch during floods or when they are receding. So any fish I'm sure were well received. Again well done, BW __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |
