| DO you Snip Gills when you catch Fish? A few years ago we started snipping the gills of the fish we catch. Does anyone here snip the gills of their fish? It eliminates almost all the brown meat on the filets, and the fish seems to taste much fresher. __________________ My Favorite MUSKY Catch. |

| Re: DO you Snip Gills when you catch Fish? Hi Deadeye, Yes, I do it all the time, as you say it cleans up the flesh no end. I despatch the fish first by driving a podger through its head and then snip the gills. Regards Drew __________________ All that Glitters is not Gold Secretary of The Blandford Sea Angling Club |

| Re: DO you Snip Gills when you catch Fish? I had to do a second take there and finally realised what you two were talking about. Phew! Just shows how demented my poor old mind is these days. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

| Re: DO you Snip Gills when you catch Fish? Hi, as a mainly charter fisherman, I have noticed that very few people do it. When they see me do it they always ask "what am I doing and why". It just seems sensible to me to bleed the fish before gutting and have nice clean white flesh for the plate. By dispatching the fish at the same time it is far easier to fillet them later in the day when the flesh is not as soft. Roll on the 9th March when I trust John Marshal will be displaying his filleting techniques. | Re: DO you Snip Gills when you catch Fish? bleeding fish also stop the fish from going hard and they also last longer when bled ! __________________ obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated .. species hunt team winner 2005 and 2006..with old smoothy.. |
