| Trip to Horton's Pond I signed up to this forum a long time ago and always meant to put pictures of my catches on here!! It has taken a while but at last I have taken the plunge. I went to Horton's Pond in Small Dole, West Sussex, last week in search of some perch. I love big perch and the locals assured there are some in there over four pounds. I polefished double red maggot over a couple of pints of mixed maggots. After a stream of tiny roach and rudd I finally hooked into something substantial only to lose it after a few minutes of ploughing up and down. Almost straight away I got into another one and landed it. It was a beautifully marked stripey of 2lb 12oz.  The freezing wind finally got the better of me and I fled for home. I will be going again next week armed with some big lobs and two rods!     |

| Re: Trip to Horton's Pond Horton's Pond is behind the landfill site in Small Dole (near Henfield). It is about £60 for the year. Most people who fish it are serious carpers with masses of rods, baitboats, tents and associated gadgets. Only dynamite would be less sporting!! There seem to be some good 'lesser' fish in there for those of us who just like seeing our floats go under regularly! |
