| Aughnadarragh Lough Hi, I am heading out tommorow for my first serious days pike fishing of the winter. I'm heading to a small lake in a close vicinity to my house. I will attack it the same as i attack most new waters with 3 ledgered rods set up on the alarms, using small Makerel as bait. It will be my first time at this lough although my dad has fished it in the past and has been rewarded with a few nice fish. I went down to the lake last sunday to have a look around and i took a few photos; ![]() I let you all know how i get on tommorow evening, BW __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |

| Re: Aughnadarragh Lough 23rd November Aughnadarragh Lough Well we arrived at the lake at around 10am with the weather looking like it was goin to hold out (I was wrong), it was mild and there was little wind. I set up the Rod-Pod and then cast out the rods around 20yards using Makerel tails and heads as bait. The weed was a little bit of a problem as there was reeds about 8ft out from the bank. ![]() After i had set up the weather had a turn for the worse, with winds coming on strong and there was heavy rain and hailstones. Luckily we had an umbrella or we would have been drenched. ![]() The rain and wind were persistent for around and hour and during this time we had no runs or even a sign of one. The weather started to fair up a bit and we decided to move on down the bank to another swim where we noticed that there was a lot less weed around the edges. ![]() We then again cast out and let the rods settle. It wasn't long before we had are first signs of fish, with the odd movement on the alarms, and 25mins after moving we hit into are first fish. At the end of a lively scrap we landed a nice 5lb pike. Unforntunelty we didnt get a picture of it, because are hands being to cold to work the camera . We where confident now that we where goin to catch another, so we didnt waste any time recasting the rods. We were once again rewarded with another pike, the pike was again dead on the 5lb mark. ![]() We again recast the rods but for the remaining hour and a half we had no luck. We packed up the tackle and were picked up at 4 o'clock, just intime as it was beginning to get dark. For the first pike outing of the winter i cant complain. I was just happy to catch anything after the weather turned outlike it did. BW __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |
