| Well the River Brue did'nt happen. After spending Saturday evening at Fullcreels (Matts) house sampleing his supurb Chilli Sausages, trying to light fireworks in the pouring rain & in my case drinking far too much Scrumpy, it was decided that the river would probably be out of sorts. We opted for plan B & decided to fish Berkley lake near Frome instead. Matt had to drop out due to an infected finger, so it was down to Bananna Steve & I to brave the elements... Steve arrived about 9am & I got there about half an hour later. Initially conditions were not too bad. I set up a couple of Carp rods & then discovered that i'd left my Fox Micron bite alarms at home. Fortunately I had a couple of cheap spare ones in my bag. Steve set up one Carp rod & then set up a bargain float rod that he had bought on Ebay, only to discover that there was a split in the rod tip.Fishing wise there was not much to report. The fishing was very slow. We just managed a couple of small hard fighting wild carp each. Matt came & paid us a visit around lunchtime, but soon did the sensible thing & retreated to the comfort of his home. As the day progressed, the wind turned into a howling gale & the rain got heavier. We eventually decided to pack up after my brolly which was secured with three guy ropes got turned inside-out by the wind & my chair got blown down the bank. All this occured whilst I was trying to play my best Carp of the day... ![]() By 4pm I was back home in front of the TV with a nice glass of Hobgoblin ale... __________________ Don't Judge My Path If You Haven't Walked My Journey... |

| Re: River Brue, the report... I looked at the Frome on way to get finger looked at, it was up and very coloured, so you made a wise choice to fish Berkley. Steve has a nice wildie whilst I was down. Weather was foul, and those that fished in it deserve medals. Think I'll have a Dragon Banger or two for luch |
