Re: A dirty weekend with Sabrina

Mike worked hard for those barbel, very much deserved.

It was an excellent long weekend and as it turned out, I was pleased I decided to fish the Friday. It turned out to be the best day with reasonable conditions and a few active fish to keep us interested.

I ended up with three barbel on Friday and lost another. The first two were both cracking fish at 9lb 120z and 9lbs 00oz:

The 3rd came along right at the end when I was packing up in the dark and was about 5lbs.

The weather and conditions turned on us for Saturday and Sunday which meant most of us struggled. I set up a float rod to try and get some bait for those trying for Zander (small roach and/or bleak were the target). The first fish I hooked was a nice roach of about 12oz (too big!), followed by several others. Again right at the end of the day, I hooked an obviously bigger fish which rolled across the surface. For a short while I thought it was a 2lb+ roach but it turned out to be a hybrid with a "lot of bream in it"

An entertaining weekend in good company - nice curry and a bit too much beer!
