I did it again !!Caught another 40kg Mekong Fish (Thailand)

This mekong CR was written somewhere since last month.


"Tonight, I decided to try my luck at my regular giant mekong catfish pond.As usual, bought about 5kg of dough baits from my regular thai fish shop.

Fish bites were usual, caught a few big size patins but not so satisfied yet. I'm still waiting for my grand prize, that is the giant pla bleuk (giant mekong fish). At around 20.27 hrs, my water bottle which I always placed it for 'signal' dropped down, next I can hear my fish line been dragged away endlessly.

I quickly went over and gave a big strike. Usually if it a patin fish (regardless of the size), it will swim inwards after fight for 5 mins or so.

But this one , my line just kept on dragged away by the force of the fish. Immediately, I knew this one confirm a mekong fish.

How big ??? I have no idea then. It took me almost 25 mins of fierce fighting with it before the big fish gave up the fight.

I don't use a net here to pull the fish out of the water. I followed the thai style. Catch hold of both side of the fish's fins and pulled it out of the water. When I pulled it out of the water, I was shocked !!Never know it was so big until it fully out of the water.

The thai kaki who helped me , said it was at least 40kg. "
