| A Night on my Local River This is the same river as i reported on a while ago but i returned on sunday night nowing that 2 seatrout where caught from it in the past fortnight. Sunday night proved to be the night on which i caught my first wild brownie on this river. The river was again looking nice and had quite a decent flow so i thought that my chances of catching were quite high. ![]() I started off with a single AA shot and a size 12 hook this proved to be to light a shot and i added a further two BB so the worm rolled along the bed off the river slow enough for the trout to take. After a few casts i moved down to the bridge where there was bit of slack water. After one cast in i had a take and with a struggle i landed a, small but rather pretty little wild brownie. This was surprising as in the excitment my line caught in the over hanging hawthorn bush and i had to try to land the fish and untangle the line at the same time. ![]() I stayed on fishing for another while without any joy but i was not worried as that fish meant a lot. I will be back next week armed with my fly rod to see if i can catch my first brown trout on the fly. Cheers, Blackwater My computer has been down since the end of August and i have not yet reported on Anglers Paradise but i hope to do so in the next few days. __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release! |
