Red face I bream of catching a carp

Ok get a coffee or beer, comfey seat etc this is a long one

as stated other thread had myself a weeks break here
Lakeside Park Burnham

Sat 16

Mrs P was a diamond as ever and whilst doing the booking got us a caravan not too far from the lake
(view from van window taken at end of week when sunny)

well we in the van by 4pm and i was beside the lake ( plumbing depths etc with 1/2 a can of sweetcorn ) by 4.30, weather was wet( torrential) and windy ,blanked but this was really a rekkie then off to club

weather was still horrendous on return so no fishing in eve but decided a session next morning worth a shot

sun 17
threw a weary head out of bed and gave it a go from 6am till 8ish am, just to left of platform tried for a mythical pike, or anything else on sweetcorn

again a blank

eve was totally washed out again so was happy back on beer( see above)

mon 18
decided this was going to be the night and avoided the pub( but took a few tins with me ), made up some groundbait and also had brought some maggot
fished to right of platform 7pm -midnight
was v v windy
as mrs P was fishing as well we had 4 rods out, 2 on alarms with pellet and strawberry corn, fishing others on floats with starlights with maggot over groundbait
result we had fish at last
managed 2 small bream and the first poxy eel
felt better as got a swim going at last

Tues 19
another serious attempt
fished 8-1am
same tactics as night before, v windy again but dry

managed 5 bream myself and at last mrs p gets a bream

along with another eel

wed 20
had a double go today
decided in morning to really try for a pike or again anything, so 1 deadbait rod out and 1 float with maggot
weather was showery and windy, fished 9am-12noon

the swans here are a real pain in the but as grab any groundbait( day or night)

managed 1 perch

eve a few more of these

meant not starting fishing till 10.30 then went on till1 am
got prime spot on platform

as not so windy
but not a touch so had to register a blank

thur 21
dureing the day there was a match on the lake, but fish were few , winner( a regular) had 20lb fish, 2nd place 2 1/2lb fish
fished hard to the left of platform( as per early session monday) using a big bucket of pellet meathod mix i had been offered( thanks mate)
tried the feeder till too dark and had a roach to mix up the varieties

Mrs p joined again in eve and I managed 2 horrid eels and 1 bream close in on float, her float (exactly the same and 1 foot away = 0 )
but the wine and thai bites went down well

Fri 22
last gasp salloon for a mythical carp
and after a fair amount of beer again hit the bank about 9pm
hopeing mrs p luck would rub off as she just won at bingo

alot of groundbait went in as useing up and this brought me 3 bream
then at last a bottom rod went off amnd i managed my best bream of the week

gave it my best till 1am , mised a good run as well but i was knackered

as for the carp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well i saw some on friday

but i had to go to glastonbury abbey to see them

the fishing was slow for everyone, I only heard of 1 carp all week

a good holiday
and 1.5points for us

back to the salt tommorrow, as still got a thirst tonight

dave

thats it with the novel you can get back on with your day now

Re: I bream of catching a carp

Beer, fishing and a time with the family, sounds like all bases were covered. Glad you had a good time away, shame the carp did not play, maybe you are saving up for France.

Unlucky with the Carp Dave, but at least you had plenty of London Pride with which to drown your sorrows. A good (If Epic) report & pics too.

Re: I bream of catching a carp

Good report Dave. Don't worry, you'll get 'em in France mate....

Loved this photo... The look on your face is priceless...

Dave couldn't quite believe what he was hearing as Mrs P told him it was his turn to drive tonight.
