| At the end of the Rainbow. Lies a pot of gold, or so they say. ![]() JP and I went to the Avon at Claverton. We new the water would be high, and a bit coloured. JP had an early start, he was on the bank by 10.am He called from a swim we call the lookout, to say he'd had a few chublets. Due to the need to work, and the need to enjoy a decent lunch, so i got to the river by 2.30. I joined JP, just downstrea of the lookout. I managed some dace and a few chunlets, but seemed to find the snags and loose some leads on the barbel rod. Around 5.30, we decided to try down stream, I went on a quick recce, and a fav spot, called the confulence was free, it was so we slunk downsteam. We had not been there for too long when the heavens opened, I had gone a little further downstream, to try feelining some worms for the perch which I had seen harrying fry, when a lovely rainbow occoured. And, from the spot where I was, the end of it was within a few yards of the spot where JP was. Well I failed to connect with a perch, or anything else for that matter. I did have some fun, with some gudgeon. Sadly the need to close the glasshouses at work, caused me to leave the bank. As I reached the car my pjone rang, and it was JP reporting a 1lb plus roach. I wished him luck. Shortly after getting in I heard tye answer phone msg, which went along the lines of 'I have just seen my first ever barbel, and its in my landing net'. Jammy sod. I guess that means next time we go its my turn. |
