Smile A relaxing afternoon at the Crock

As i'd got away from work early yesterday, I thought i'd pop over to Crockerton for a few hours. So I grabbed the Carp gear & a few frozen boilies that I had in the fridge. Left a note for the missus to let her know I would'nt be home until 9ish & by ten past two I was at the waterside setting up my rods.

My chosen swim. Peg 8

It beats working. If the Boss ask's, you ain't seen me...Right?

I was using a few of Bananna Steves Strawberry Jam boilies that i'd borrowed for an earlier trip. This flavour always seems to produce the goods on this venue. I placed one bait beneath the nearside bushes & the other accross to the island. However bites today were a little slow. I was getting the odd line bite, so I knew the fish were there. But they were not really in a feeding mood. Eventually I had a good run on the bait by the island & after a short dogged fight I pulled in this nice Common of just over 10lb.
I'd no sooner weighed it & released it, when Steve turned up with a couple of welcome beers (Very strong French stuff. 8.5% ) He did'nt fish, but just kept me company for a couple of hours. By now a few other anglers had turned up & the fishery was getting quite busy. This combined with the fact that a new swan had turned up at the lake & was being noisily chased up and down by the very territorial resident pair of swans seemed to put the fish down & no more bites were forthcomming. However it was a pleasent way to spend an evening & was rounded off nicely by a tasty Kebab on the way home & a Bottle of Red Wine before bed...

Re: A relaxing afternoon at the Crock

Sounds like a nice session mate, even if the fish didn't really want to play.

And rounded off by a kebab! Can't beat it...

Re: A relaxing afternoon at the Crock

That's the right way of finishing a hard working week....can't beat it, even if the fish don't feel too obliged. Still you didn't blank, so that makes it even more pleasant.....Roll on France more and plenty of
