Bananna Steve & I are planning to fish Park Lake at Todber Monor fisheries in Dorset next Saturday. Hoping to tempt some of their Stillwater Barbel & Brown Goldfish for the species hunt. Anyone wishing to join us would be most welcome....![]() __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org Last edited by Greenheart; 07-31-2008 at 03:28 PM.

Re: Todber Good luck for the weekend. This time last year the barbel were concentrated in the top end of the lake (top right of the photo) and coming out to punched meat (why am I telling you this?). I failed miserably but had plenty of other species including some very weird ornamentals. The barbel I saw were all about 3lb/5lb and in superb condition! __________________ "I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order" Eric Morcambe

Re: Todber Can one you give directions, I doubt if I'll be anle to cast a line, but I may be able to drop in and get some action shots....on way back from Salisbury, a bit of a roundabout route, but then I am an angler.....

Re: Todber A late change of plan and a quick check on here to see if Ian and Steve were still intending to fish Todber saw me heading off to join them. I hadn't fished here before so took a waggler rod and a couple of feeder rods together with bread, meat, corn, pellets and dead maggots. If, like me, you haven't fished these lakes before you'll find that once you drive down the track to the lakes themselves you've missed the tackle shop which is on the opposite side of the road from the track to the lakes. Back to the tackle shop for a day ticket (£6) for Park Lake. I have to say that I was surprised by the comprehensive stock in the shop ( I even managed to pick up some 3/0 sea fishing hooks that I was getting short of). The two chaps in the shop were pleasant and helpful, even trying to put me on the Barbel hotspot. Back to Park Lake, where Ian and Steve arrived whilst I was setting myself up. The lake was teeming with fish. Carp to about 3lb seemed willing to take any hookbait offered and they faught really well on relatively light tackle. Ian hooked several that took an incredible length of elastic from his pole. These are typical of the Carp I was catching: They were even taking floating crust and Ian had loads dabbing crust in the margin. I packed up about 2.30pm and left Ian and Steve to it. Goodness knows how many they caught in total. I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Todber and will go back again to try and find one of the elusive Barbel. __________________ Rich "If a thing's worth doing it's worth doing to excess!"
