An evening tench fishing on the Staffs Worcester.

Well that was what I was doing after I arrived to find the place looking rubbish last night. Half an hour exploring on the maggot just bought the to be expected small roach. Decided to go hell or leather for tench so out came the groundbait and in went 6 orange sixed balls laced with a good handful or two of maggots. Now I know this is hardly canal tactics but I just was not in the mood for tiddler snatching.

As it was nowt happened on the groundbaited area at all (they were all probably in worcester with that racket).

Snatched out a few tiddler on the short pole while I was at it. Probably about a dozen or so small fish. Species count has gone up again as one of them was a dace.

So this years species tally for both fresh and salt water is a pitiful Roach,Rudd, Gudgeon, Dace, Perch and Bass. On the other hand that is a lot better than last year.

I'm hanging up the rods for two weeks in preperation for the Isle of Wight (if I overdo the fishing thing then Mrs Lewis will not be happy),where I'm planning a few nights and days after salt water fishies. I might even have a go at some tench while I'm there, who knows.

Cheers,

Pete.

Thumbs up Re: An evening tench fishing on the Staffs Worcester.

Stil beats not fishing at all. I favour groundbaiting using small pinches of liquidized bread when canal polefishing for tench & Bread or red maggot on the hook. Better luck with the Tench next time.
