A pair of turbo tench

I popped down to Crockerton for a couple of hours, this eve. I felt lucky that one of my fav pegs, no 7 was free. I set up and got chatting to the chap on the next peg, he yold me that the previous chap in no 7 had chucked in his remaining bait, heavy feeding has never been wise at the Crock. Suffice to say that I struggled for just over an hour, with three fish on meat, 1 perch, and two roach.
They say the grass is greener on the other side, so i popped over to the otherside, in time for the sun to pop out.
I set up in no 15, a swim I had not fished before. Feeding was the usual micro halibut pellets. Hookbait was a small peice of Lidl's bacon grill, wonderufl stuff. After a few minutes the float slid away, and one of the lakes notorious turbo powered tench gave a good account of itself, at around 3.8.0 I was happy. A few minutes later I had another bite, this fish I could not stop, one of the lakes bigger carp I thought, I thought my pole would break, eventually the hook knot gave way, after setting up a new hook, I managed another tench, a little smaller. but equally determined. A bream about 3lb followed, then I think I made a mistake. I had some very small peices of meat, to which I'd added some crushed bemp, then shaken, I added some of this to the swim and had absolutely nothing for the remainder of the session.
Suprised, I thought it would be a good loose feed. Lessonlearnt I guess.

Re: A pair of turbo tench

Well done on the turbo tench, I had a couple of them too and they do go like a steam train at Crockerton. Superb fun on the pole.

Steve told me never to use hemp there, for some unexplained reason the fish don't seem to like it there.

Thumbs up Re: A pair of turbo tench

Nice one Matt. Meats definately the top bait at Crockerton, although I prefer princes or plumrose luncheon meat. Pity about that Carp though....
