Club waters

Arrived on Tuesday afternoon, my mate picked me up from the station, then it was on to see 10Bob, We just arrived at the club water and he had landed this magnificent TENCH

The picture does not do the fish justice, a cracker of a fish. Well done Bob.

Tuesday night, LoL, well i was visiting my freind and his delightful family, a super dinner off Lesley, and later it was off to the pub, LoL, Mathew ( my mates son ) and his girlfriend joined us later, As ever we sampled a few beers at The Mason Arms, very nice.

We rose on Wednesday morning and had a chat about the weather, BLOODY HEAVY rain, we decided not to go fishing, if we had set up and it was fair it would have been OK, but setting up in the rain was not on,LoL, fairweather anglers, LoL

We had a few places to visit and some more old aquaintneses to visit, so we spend the day doing that, :chuckle: along with a few beers, LoL

Right then FISHING, oops, We also went to the pub on Wednesday evening, LoL. SORRY, FISHING

Thursday, great weather, we were up and ready and out for 8am. We got to the venue some 20 minutes later, I was not dissapointed, the peg i had chose was free, we tackled up and set about the days fishing. I fished the waggler with great results and my mate fished the pole, again with great results.

My peg

Then a chap came and started to chat, i asked him if he was wondering who i was, the chap was a co owner of the water, so i told him i was a guest of my mates, it turned out he was the ex chair of the club, a founder member, we had a great chat, and he assured me i would be more than welcome any time i wished, LoL

I was only fishing about a rods length out, not deep, about 3.5feet. I had worms, pellet and maggot for bait, i was feeding s few maggots and some feed pellets every half hour or sio, i used worm as hookbait,

I think i was the first to land a fish, a nice roach of about 12oz, fin perfect. but i wanted the tench to take my bait, and i was not let down, i rebaited and this time i tipped the worm with a maggot, i then proceded to make a cuppa, i just caught the float dissapear out the corner of my eye, A short fight ensued, the fish ran for the lilly pads, TENCH i though, and i was not wrong, a nice tench of about 3lbish, but i may be wrong, again the camera does not do the fish justice

I was a very happy bunny, and i could not wait to gety my float out again,, LoL a shot of my float, notice the lillies where the fish tend to run for,

I continued to land more roach, rud, slimmers and perch, the all of a sudded, my clutch went BERSERK, i picked my rod up and whatever it was on the hook SCREAMED away, i could not stop it !!! again it headed for the lillies, i had it on for a good few minutes, BANG it got off, i was gutted, no point in guessing what is was, TENCH, CARP or a BARBEL that inhabits the water, they are said to have got in the water when the beck flooded, but who knows what took my hookbait.. my mate had also been snapped, ON A 20 LACCY , same fish or not, i would not like to say
As the day wore on Mark and myself continued to catch at a steady pace.

We decided to pack up at 4pm. We packed and cleaned whet rubbish we had, a couple of empty bacon packets, LoL. my mate had done the cooking, and i must admit the bacon sarbies were very nice.

It was a great day with my very good friend Mark, great fishing for a first time on the water.
The place itself, great pegs, very comfy and easy to access, park behind almost all of the pegs, NO RUBBISH whatsoever, a very clean, respectable venue, and i eagerly await my next venue, in fact i asked if i could join LoL.

Once again another very enjoyable stay with Leslkey and my mate, great hosts and company in the bars, LoL, and great food prepared by Lesley, oh and my mate made some tea now and again LoL

Thanks yet again Lesley and my mate, very much appreciated

Some more picture's

my mate and his Tench

A closer look

Me keeping my hat on LoL

The bacon

my mate and Bob,

And me rsting, maybe it was the beer the night before LoL, a new cap off Webbo, LoL

A view of the lake

Time for Home (notice the hat Claire :winker: )

The plan was to fish for two days, but the weather was horrid on Wednesday, LoL, SO WE HAD A FEW MEDICINAL BEERS,

It is a cracking venue, and there's some big carp in.
