3ish days at Crockerton

Day 1

Well it was back to my favourite venue and I planned to do a three day stint again as I did this time last year.

I arrived at the lake at 14:00hrs, the reason I left it so late was that there was a visiting club fishing a match on the lake.
I choose peg 13 for which is opposite the island and is at a perfect angle to tuck a bait neatly behind the back of the island.

This picture is from Google Earth and is about 10 years out of date.

Any way, by the time I had set up it nearing 17:30 and my plan was to fish Strawberry Jam Boillies behind the Island and white chocolate in front of me at around 25ft from the bank.

19:30
Landed 3, lost 2; 2 Commons at 5lb and 1 at 8lb

21:05: 4 more Carp and a 5lb male Tench, 2 -5lb Commons, 6lb Mirror and a 9lb Common. The 9lb and one of the 5lbs were taken at the same time on both rods, over all I had 4 double takes over the three days.

22:00 my second Double take this time a nice Common my first double of the session 11lb 02ozs and 3lb Tench.

23:00 lost another fish and decided to call it a night.

Day 2:

Woke up at 5:30: decided to fish both rods with Strawberry Bollies; it was 2hrs before I got my first bite. However I lost the fish at the net it looked like another 5lber.

08:15 – three more fish, mirror of 6lb and a Common of 5lb and a small Tench of 2lb all taken on the Boillies by the Island, apart from the 11lber all my fish had been taken by the Island.

10:50- I had landed two more 5lb Commons, all the 5lbers were only guess’s as I un-hooked them in the water. However, I had lost two extremely powerful fish that snagged me up on both occasions, which in both cases I had to re-tackle up.

12:50 – The bites had slow right down when out of the blue I had screaming run, this like the other two I lost headed for the snags, however with a bit of brute force and me saying “no no no!” I managed to turn the fish and land my first double of the day 13lb 4ozs common, I even managed to sort my timer on my camera, however, I missed timed the first photo {doh}

13lb 4oz Common

At 13:00, Mat {Fullcreel} arrived as I was playing another good fish and kindly took some action shots.

The fish was my largest of the session that of 15lb 4ozs Mirror.

At 13:30 as Matt was leaving I hooked into another fish, more action shots by Matt.

This carp was around the 10lb mark and I un-hooked him in the water.
As the day got warmer the bites slowed down, and at 15:00 Greenheart turned up to fish. I sat and watch Ian for a while and at 17:00 I went to make my tea, but just as I got the cooker on, I had a screaming run from my edge rod and I produced a 11lb mirror.

Ian left about 20:00 and I only had 3 more fish 5lb common and mirror and 2lb Tench.

By 23:00 I was dead on my feet and went to bed.

Day 3: I awoke at 09:30 with the noise of people carry kit and laughing, on peering out of my bivvy I remembered that the Senior Members had a match on today. They were happy for me to stay, but felt really tired and I only stayed till 12:00 mind you I did have a 14lb common to finish the day off.

I had a great 2 and ½ days and landed 22 fish for a rough total of 140lb.

Thumbs up Re: 3ish days at Crockerton

Top report & a cracking few days fishing mate. I'm starting to wonder if we should cancell the France trip & spend a week at Crockerton instead?
That's one beautiful Common, Looking at the size of it's tail, it's no wonder they fight so hard....
