| Couple of hours at Staffs/Worcester/Stourbridge Junction. Well it's the first coarse session since I made the decision to dust off the rods and "come out of retirement". ![]() Really just wanted to wet a line catch a few tiddlers and iron out the wrinkles really. ![]() Fished at the junction of the Stourbridge canal and the Staffs Worcester just up from the Stewpony . Depth was only a couple of feet except for the main boat channel. A right brambly mess on the right side and clear everywhere else. Plumped to fish just off the brambly mess and to the near side of the boat channel as I thought there'd still be boat movement (as it was someone came through the set of locks behind my postion and it was like something out of the Poseidon adventure with the amount of water flying around). ![]() Was waggler fishing a 2BB then 3BB fine insert waggler and resisted the pole as I really wanted to iron the creases out of casting etc. ![]() Mixed maggot as bait. End result was a quiet first hour (approx 19:30 20:30) followed by some roach activity , then it went quiet , two perch and a gudgeon turned up then back to a few bigger roach. Not going to set the world on fire but it wasn't meant to be a keepnet stuffer just a cobweb blower. As it was it all came flooding back in no time and I can honestly say it is like falling off a log in many ways. Reckon I had around 3.5 LB of fish in the end. Some areas of note were that I fed maggots like a ten year old who has been given their first catapult (ie with the accuracy of world war two Lancaster pilot who is using his guide dog as a pathfinder) and had forgotten that roach bites do not always result in the float going under. All in all a short and enjoyable session and I'm already back in the "right if I'd have done that instead of this....." mode. ![]() That and the fact that I reckon there's tench in that there canal and I intend to find out.....happy days. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

| Re: Couple of hours at Staffs/Worcester/Stourbridge Junction. Well done mate... I haven't been down there for years... In fact, I've only recently been past the Stewpony and noticed it's not a pub anymore!! .A nice way to re-start the "darkside" malarky again though... Be interested to know how how it goes in the Tench hunt... ![]() __________________ Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land.
