Fun on a fly.

My friend and fishing partner, JP called to say he had picked upa fly rod for £5 in a charity shop, and did I have a spare reel and coud I show him how to cast etc. We went to hifger farm, a usual location for a fun evening, the carp there are very happy to take off the top.
It did'nt take long for JP to get the hang of casting, I limited his range til he got the action right, the rod needed a slightly heavier line than I was able to lend him. Still, after 1/2 hour he was casting OK. We played about with a couple of different fly patterns, thehj settle on Daddies, a little early, but the one I have have foam bodies, which were pretty bright, making them easier to spot on the surface.
I was first into a fish. A nice, hard fighting carp

This beastie weighed in at 6.14.0, which was a nice bend in that lkittle fly rod, a 5/6 shakespeare oberon travel rod, best buy I think. I managed a couple more as the light began to fade.

One point about Higher Farm is the sunsets there are pretty nice too.

Jp had his first on a fly a few minutes later.

Re: Fun on a fly.

They're made by a friend called Devon Campbell-Hall, her 'normal' creations are at www.devoncampbellhall.com
You will find clothes like the chilli trousers at the Chilli Fiesta at West Dean nr Chichester, 2nd weekend in aug I think.
She comes to our Great Chilli Event, which is the last bank holiday in may.
Have a look at my cricket 'whites' she made for me, although I dare not wear them, for fear of damage.
Cover your eye's.

That wicket's got some viscious spin on it!
