Re: River Ekete 31-05-08 Hi Michael and thanks :) Now to your question, there are plenty of very big fish in Lithuania accross all species. Usually from about mid June onward I start banging a feeder out and fish a lot more early morning and late evening sessions, this of course makes a difference as at the moment we are usually talking about catching only a few bonus fish on the wag :) That having been said, I do regularly catch bags of silver Bream to 1LB and over on the wag, for the species that isn't a bad size. :) Here is a story to show you what can be done: The record for Catfish in Lithuania caught on line has been broken, the new record is 88 KG, a little over 193 Lbs. the fish was caught on a 1LB Bream dead bait. The fish is not the largest caught in Lithuania, a 96 KG which is over 211 Lbs holds that record but was caught in a net. Both fish came out of the Kaunas Lagoon. Here is a bit more for you, this fish, again from Lithuanian waters, was estimated to be around 150 KG :O http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gst99NATGpo __________________ http://wandering-angler.com

Re: River Ekete 31-05-08 Thanks for that :) I was thinking then, i remember you posting that there is crucian carp in one of the waters that you fish? Am i correct there and if so, What size do they grow to in Lithuania? A 1lb silver bream is some fish for that species i know, But im trying to compare your rivers to the rivers in the uk . . . Although i propably should compare them to the canal, Seems more real. Are every species that are in our english canal In the river you fish? Michael!

Re: River Ekete 31-05-08 We have all your species that are native but we also have a few species you dont have such as Asp, burbot and Vimba :) Crucian Carp grow bigger in Eastern Europe than in the UK, there are reports of fish well over 5LBs although I have never seen them personally. We have some very big River systems, i dont tend to fish them anymore but rivers like the Neris and Nemunas are deep, wide and fast. We have large Barbel and Chub in these waters as well as other smaller swift flowing waters. Of course here you also find Dace, greyling, salmon, trout and the like... just as in England as well as Asp which get pretty big over here and are usually caught spinning early morning or late evening. Hope this helps :) __________________ http://wandering-angler.com
