| The Coking Farm Report After the planned Linear met was cancelled, both Ian and I still fancied fishing the weekend. So on Tuesday before the weekend I started to look around locally to see where we could go. I had seen a carp/catfish fishery advertised on the internet that was close to a favourite venue and that being Todber. So knowing that it was not too far to travel I booked up two pegs for Ian and I to fish. Well Friday morning came around and Ian was outside my house at 6am, 20 mins later we had loaded the car and of we set. We arrived at 7am at the lake I found two other people that had been there overnight. We spoke to one of them and ask “how he had got on”? To which he replied “a couple of 1lb pasties and a 12lb and 14lb mirror”. Undeterred we found two nice looking pegs and with the wind at our backs we set-up for the weekend. At around 10am, Ian hooked into his first fish. An epic fight that the poets will tell tales of years to come, but I can’t be bothered to tell you them, just look at the evidence yourself Later that day I also hooked a small pasty, and to Ian’s disgust a small Tench, for which has become like the Ruffe a fabled creature of the depths in Ian’s Life. As the day progressed into night I had one more take, a nice mirror of 11lb ![]() The rest of the night went past with Ian catching another Pasty, at 5am I was rudely awoken by my bite alarm screaming, As I rushed out of my Bivvy I struck into a another nice fish a mirror of 10lb. Ian kindly took the photo and hopefully he will show it in his report. The rest of Saturday went by with Ian catching yet another small carp of a 1lb or so. I had another run, but I was duped by a certain person reaping his revenge!!!! The weekend didn’t produce the fish we were hoping for, but we did have a good laugh, ohh Ian how’s the wind Here are some more pictures of the venue. ![]() View from my peg ![]() Ian’s peg ![]() Ian Resting __________________ "The muscles of 20 men, and the brains of 20 mussels", |

Ian's pasty only looks small because Ian has huge hands Still, better than a blank and I assume the fish were spawning?????? __________________ There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind." - Washington Irving |

| Not much else to report really, so i've just posted a few more Coking Farm pics.... Camp Bananna Steve resting. I'm not the only one who catches Pasties... However Steve did get the better fish... The local wildlife.... Warning If Steve tells you that Bicarbonate of Soda is good for indigestion, don't believe him. I made the mistake of doing so, & lets just say, that if extreme flatulence was an olympic sport, then England would have another Gold Medal.... ![]() __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org |
