Talking boy done good today

well with the weather turning nice at last i decided on a session at the kiaora ponds this afternoon, for fun and guessed about time for some freshwater points

boy back from school at 11.15 changed, town for 1/2 a pint of maggot and away we went, and set up at pond just after midday

son didnt want to walk too far so we were fishing the top ( silverfish) pond

he decided he didnt want to float fish( far too much concentration and patience required) so for first time ever i put a rod on an alarm here( usually just wait for click of baitrunner)

i set up another on baitrunner for myself and another crude float set up ( big chubber float as hoped he may try and would mean easier for hookups)

first cast on float with a size 16 and double maggot and a greedy gudgeon was on for points( first of far too many)

2nd cast and a small rudd, this was going well

and better still 3rd cast a small silver bream

just after son photod this for me his rod shot off and i was very impressed how he managed to start with
although the carp that are in this pond are small they fight like demons and he soon wanted me to help , which i did and he did the netting perfectly

and here he is proud son and his first ever ( very pretty common)carp at 4lb10

well done Sean

i lost the rig on my bottom rod( bad cast and tree job) so switched it to a maggot feeder
almost imediately had a nice roach, new pb at 10oz

followed by a fiesty perch

float rod was still getting loads of gudgeon, roach ,perch and rudd but
son was seriously losing patience now so slowly packed up( also had forgotten to put top on maggot box and the lightening fast ducks here got fatter quickly) this is a great venue for enjoying a few hours and fantastic for kids, only problem can be the wildfowl which are abundent

especially our friend the black swan who never left our swim

what a great ,great afternoon

happy son whos eager to go fishing again

lots of points and a suntan

dave
