First fish on the pole!

Hi guys, I am new to the site and I thought I might share my fishing trips from this week end with you guys. I am fishing at the La Farege lake in Wesbury near where I live. It's a private water but tickets are only £25 a year and sold on first come first served. I bought a pole on Friday, a Drennan power Carp after years of resisting and trying to tell myself I was carp angler, trouble is I don't like camping so never got into over nighters! Any way I went to the lake Sunday morning with the intention of catchig some the Tench and Bream that rarley show them selves. Got to the lake at about 05:30 and set up the pole. This took a while and involved a good deal of swearing! After a while I cupped in 3 pots of ground bait and some corn. 5 mins later and after a good fight this turned up:



All 5lb of it! Cupped in some more ground bait and got another Tench of 4 lb. Lost a couple because I did not play them right and held the pole in the air like rod, still we all have to learn! This was followed by a bit a dry spell (the fishing not the weather), I had a small Carp followed by by 2 Bream a 4lb and 6lb!



Not bad a first go and it was blowing a gale! Went again today, much better weather and 7 or 8 Carp to 13lb! That was fun on the pole. Also had a couple of small bream. I am a pole convert!

Great session and report Jhock. Sounds like you had some cracking fish for the first time on a pole. Nice one!

it takes a bit of getting use to but I am really impressed with the pole. I am even thinking about a entering match! I have been fishing since I was about 14 and finaly see the appeal of match fishing.

Remeber my first fish on the pole . . . I think it was a roach from our loacal canal.

Matches are amazing fun, The buz you get is alot higher then just your normal Pleasure fishing mate

I need to get myself a seat box really, it's a bit tricky using the pole on seat and getting on the platforms is difficult. Over the years i have aquired the kit to do a match, strong match rod, Feeder rod and now the pole.

I have a got bit fed up of sitting behind the Carp rods all day, in actual fact I am little anti Carp at the moment. It's was great to catch Tench and Bream for a change. Don't get me wrong Carp are great and now I have caught a few on the pole it's got fun again. Might have to get some keep nets!
