Yes, it's true . Well at least until the rivers open up again.

It's the gold you see, such a pretty colour and looks so good when it's all wrapped up in a gorgeous fish:



This one looked to be over 3lb as I slipped the net under it but it was not to be. However, I was more than a little pleased to see it register 2lb 15oz on the scales, a superb fish and the result of 4 hours hard concentration this afternoon.

I started off in Richardson Lake and gave it 3 hours. I did manage half a dozen tench between 12oz and 3lb and 1 crucian of 1lb 8oz. But then decided to move the 30 odd yards into Harris Lake for the last 5 hours or so.

Once again I had a series of "unmissable" bites which I of course missed . But some 4 hours later I had a purple patch of about 30 minutes when I finally hooked into two tench of 3lb+ and the beautiful crucian. All fell to double caster on a #20 hook fished at about 6mtrs.

I packed up a happy man and came to the conclusion I must be an addict as I'm already planning return trips next Saturday and Sunday.

we have in one of our club lakes and i fish more for them than the mirrors and common, they give such a spirited fight on a float rod
